O-1A (sciences, business, education, athletics) and O-1B (arts, motion-picture/TV). Requires evidence of sustained national or international acclaim — publications, awards, judging, media coverage, original contributions of major significance, etc. No lottery, no annual cap, indefinitely renewable. Often the best option for laid-off researchers / engineers with publications who can't get a fast H-1B transfer.
